Land Preservation and Protection of Ancient Sites
We, as a people, have always had a deep connection with Mother Earth, father sky, and the sacred waters.
The Ramapo Munsee Land Alliance is committed to preserving the beauty of our homelands in the Ramapo mountains and protecting ancient sites, some of which are thousands of years old.
We have partnered with some great allies to purchase and preserve 53 acres of forest in our territory that have ancient cairns, cradle rocks, and viewing seats. We will protect this site from development and do a food forest restoration project there, planting native food and medicine-producing trees, shrubs, and plants, such as pawpaw trees, American chestnut, ginseng, etc.
The Ramapo Munsee Land Alliance is also working on cleaning up one of our ancient cemeteries that have been vandalized, desecrated, and neglected by the county.
